Baltic Analog Lab 9
BAL Residence
with Andreas Trobollowitsch (AT), Sofi (Sofia Zaiceva) (LV), and Iļja Krūmiņš
On Saturday, November 15, Baltic Analog Lab invites to the celebration of its 9th anniversary in its residency space on the 2nd floor, featuring analogue and audio performances by our friends Andreas Trobollowitsch (AT), Sofi (Sofia Zaiceva) (LV), and Iļja Krūmiņš from the local Gamechanger Audio. Visual projections will be created by members of BAL.
Baltic Analog Lab was founded in 2016, but it found its physical home in 2017, when it began an active series of events — creative film and photography workshops, the Process experimental film festival, several summer schools, educational programmes, artist residencies, as well as collaborations with other film labs and organisations around the world.
This year the association celebrated the sixth edition of the Experimental film festival Process, the fifth BAL Film School, concluded its participation in the Creative Europe project SPECTRAL, and actively carried out its new residency programme in collaboration with the Skaņu Mežs festival and Erica Synths. Marking its ninth anniversary, BAL wishes to celebrate with a series of sound performances by our members and supporters.
Programme
19:00 — Doors open, drinks and snacks at BAL Residency (2nd floor)
20:00 — “Branches & Bytes” — Andreas Trobollowitsch (AT), Sofi (Sofia Zaiceva) (LV) + BAL (electronic and analogue audiovisual performance)
21:00 — Photo portrait studio with Armands Andže (BAL, 1st floor)
23:00 — Iļja Krūmiņš (analog synthesizer set)
"Branches & Bytes" is a collaboration between two sound artists Andreas Trobollowitsch (AT) and Sofia Zaiceva (LV) which explores contrasting sonic approaches: digital sound programming meets mechanical, analog friction. Zaiceva shapes sound through code, spatialization, and algorithmic structures, while Trobollowitsch creates raw, physical textures using branches and rotating wooden discs. Together, they forge a hybrid sonic field where contrasts collide, intertwine, and dissolve into unexpected resonances.

Iļja Krūmiņš is an effects, noise and synthesizer researcher from Latvia. Since 2016, he has been the co-founder, inventor and creative driving force of “Gamechanger Audio”, building innovative musical instruments that have been used since the world’s highest stages. Now Iļja has transferred this same energy to the stage, using a guitar, synthesizer and a whole range of self-built effects. In the live performance, the audience has the opportunity to experience a direct current from the inner world to the speakers.
We will treat you with some snacks at the event, but we invite you to bring drinks (and snacks) for the shared table.
Entrance fee – wine bottle (or other beverage)
Baltic Analog Lab is supported by the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation.
